Markus Klinko
Famed photographer Markus Klinko began his career in the creative arts at the age of three as a classical musician, and became one of the world’s top classical harpists, playing at illustrious concert venues around the globe and releasing several CDs. After excelling at this craft, Klinko decided to pursue a new passion – fashion photography. Shortly after meeting – and dating - Indrani, they began a whirlwind journey to become two of the top celebrity photographers in the industry. They have worked with almost every high profile celebrity including Kate Winslet, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Jay-Z, and Kanye West. The duo’s work can also be seen in ad campaigns for Lancome, Elizabeth Arden, Hugo Boss, L’Oréal Paris, and De Beers, and in numerous publications including Vogue, Vanity Fair and Interview.

Where is home?
NYC

LA, MIAMI BEACH, PARIS AND NEW YORK. GOT TO THINK LARGE.
Did you go to school to study photography?
NEVER.
How long have you been a photographer?
17 YEARS
How would you describe your style?
GLAM ROCK

What type of cameras do you shoot with?
MAMIYA, EXCLUSIVELY! WITH LEAF DIGITAL BACKS.
What is your favorite photography accessory, other than your camera?
MY CUSTOM MAMMOTH GRIPS
If you had to choose one lens which one would it be and why?
RZ LENS 65MM, ONE OF THE SHARPEST LENSES EVER DESIGNED
What lighting equipment do you take on a shoot?
ALL DEPENDS. LATELY MORE AND MORE SUNLIGHT
How important is Photoshop in your final images?
IT IS PART OF EVERY FINAL IMAGE OF COURSE
Have you ever had anything go wrong at a photo shooting and if so, how did you handle it?
WE GET INSIPRED BY MISHAPS, AND OFTEN MISTAKES LEAD TO BETTER IDEAS
What is your favorite recent image you have shot recently?
OUR WHOLE SERIES WITH DAPHNE GUINNESS.
What do you feel is the most challenging thing about fashion photography?
TO CREATE IMAGES THAT LIVE FOREVER AND ARE NOT LIMITED TO THAT SEASON
What do you think of the fashion photography industry at the moment and where do you see it in 5 years from now?
A FULL MERGING OF MOVING AND STILL IMAGES

ONLY ONE REALLY, HELMUT NEWTON!

AGAIN, NEWTON!
Do you advertise? If so, where?
NO
I realize that each great photographer has a particular penchant or love for photographing a particular subject whether it be nature, portraits, sea or landscapes, shadow and light, etc. as a result I would love to have you talk about and share whatever images you feel appropriate of your own private obsession in the magical world of photography.

I AM A SPENDER, NOT A SAVER, UNFORTUNATELY.
What item do you wish you had designed?
I ALREADY DESIGNED PERFFECT ACCESSORIES FOR MY RZ. EVERY TIME I SHOOT THEY MAKE ME HAPPY.
If you could have lunch with anyone who is famous or dead who would it be?
AUDREY HEPBURN AT THE TIME OF ROMAN HOLIDAY!
Your favorite film (movie) of all time?
SO MANY!! IMPOSSIBLE TO CHOOSE ONE
First thing you would do if you won the lottery?
I DO NOT BELIEVE IN LOTTERIES, I BELIEVE IN WORKING HARD AND CREATING YOUR OWN SUCCESS!
Which word would your friends use to describe you?
DOES NOT TAKE ‘NO’ FOR AN ANSWER!
What ambition have you not achieved yet?
STIL WANT TO BENCH PRESS 325 POUNDS.
What would you like to be doing in 5 years from now?
THE SAME AS I DO NOW, JUST BETTER! I LOVE MY LIFE.
The last question, What would be your advice to someone who wants to become a photographer?
BE VERY VERY PATIENT. IT TAKES  ALONG TIME TO ESTABLISH ONE SELF AND EVEN AFTER ONE HAS TO CONSTANTLY PROVE HIMSELF IN ORDER TO STAY RELEVANT.
